Melanie Jayne Lynskey
Melanie Jayne Lynskey (born 16 May 1977)
is a New Zealand actress. She is known for playing charming, soft-spoken but
tough characters. She is a major player in films that are independent. Her
achievements include her winning a New Zealand Film Award, an Hollywood Film
Award and a Sundance Special Jury Award, in addition to Gotham Award, Golden
Nymph Award, Critics' Choice Award, as well as Screen Actors Guild Award
nominations. Lynskey's debut in a film was as an teen killer in Peter Jackson’s
Heavenly Creatures (1994). After making the move to the United States, Lynskey
built a successful career as a support actor in a number of films, both big and
small budget including Ever After (1998), Detroit Rock City, But... (both
1999), Coyote Ugly (2000) and Sweet Home Alabama (both 2002), Shattered glass
(2003), Flags of Our Fathers (2006) and Away We Go!, Up in the Air!, Leaves of
Grass (2009), Win Win (2011), Seeking a Wallflower (both 2014) and They Came
Together (2014) and Don't be distracted (2021). Lynskey's leading role in the
film Hello I Must Go (2012) received critical acclaim and an nomination for the
Gotham Award for Breakthrough Performer. This was a crucial moment in her
career. She is a prominent persona within the American independent film industry
due to her subsequent performances in Happy Christmas. We'll Never Have Paris.

Lynskey is also known for her performance as Rose on Two and a Half Men
(2003-2015). From 2015 to 2016she was a character on Michelle Pierson on the
HBO series Togetherness, for which she was nominated for the 2015 Critics
Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress. Megan and Beatrice were
her voices on the Cartoon Network's Over the Garden Wall (2014). (2016-2018).
She also appeared as Molly Strand on the first season of Hulu's Castle Rock
(2018) and she played Rosemary Thomson in the FX miniseries Mrs. America (2020).
