Padma Parvati Lakshmi is a Indian from Chennai who was born September 1 1970. Lakshmi was divorced by her parents when she was two years old. Her mother left India to escape the stigma of divorce in India and moved to the United States. Lakshmi lived for two years with her grandparents from Chennai before moving to the United States. Both of her parents divorced after that and she has a younger half brother and half sister from her father.
