Amy was a student at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois and graduated with a cum laude, a B.A. East Asian history, with the concentration in Theater. She moved to Chicago shortly after and then studied Improv at the Improv Olympic and then acting in the theater at The Actor's Center. Shortly after graduation she was offered a contract on the now-defunct soap opera Another World (1964). The actress has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in the category of "Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Daytime Drama Series". The most memorable of her roles have been of strong women as Alex Taylor in Third Watch (1999), Maggie Pistone in Falcone (2000), Katie Owen in Peacemakers (2003) alongside Tom Berenger in Peacemakers (2003) and Linda Reagan in Blue Bloods. Amy is still seeking unique and diverse roles in the film industry.
