Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell is an American TV chef and ex-teacher at the Institute of Culinary Education. She's the host of Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on the Food Network and the co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, with her trademark spiky blond tresses and an energised persona on Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Cook series, provides an easy and straightforward cooking techniques that are suitable for the home cook. Chef Burrell has worked in several of the most prestigious restaurants located in New York, studied the food culture and culinary traditions of Italy as well as competed on Food Network's Iron Chef America. While growing up in Upstate New York, Chef Burrell developed a passion for cooking and eating in her early years. She pursued her passion for the restaurant industry by enrolling at The Culinary Institute of America after obtaining a degree in English as well as Communication at Canisius College, Buffalo NY. The Culinary Institute of America is a wonderful adventure. I just couldn't get enough pleasure from it. After graduation, Burrell spent one year learning in the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners and worked in Umbria's La Taverna del Lupo as well as Tuscany's La Bottega del 30, an Michelin-starred restaurant. It was during this time that her experience in Italy helped her to understand and appreciate Italian tradition and philosophy, and this has left an impression on her perception of food. Burrell is a well-known ambassador for the Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation. She is a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which assists kids with disabilities. She speaks about her cooking love and imparts her experiences in the food world as she frequently is in the United States for both her roles as speaker and mentor. Anne often has mentioned throughout her culinary career she's grateful to have the opportunity to be able to share what's most important for her.
